In a perfect world you would build a list of subscribers and each person would actively open the email messages you send them and they will always make a purchase. The reality is not everyone will open your emails all the time and some emails may not make it through for various reasons beyond anyone’s control. Here are some email marketing tips to ensure a higher percentage of activity with your campaigns:

1. From Who? -- this is one that irks me to no end. Make sure to add your name or the name of your business so when subscribers receive your emails they know where or who it is coming from. All quality autoresponders will give you the option of doing this.

Side Note: branding is critical so you want to put your face, business and/or name in front of as many eyeballs as possible. I don’t know about you, but I don’t rush to open emails from Admin, Webmaster or Do Not Reply.

2. Keep It Real -- this is a tough one because time is usually limited but if you write your emails from a personal standpoint you will build a relationship much faster with your subscribers. The key to Internet business building and earning income online are those relationships.

Side Note: make sure to use the personalization tools your autoresponder service offers because it is important to have the system automatically add the recipient’s name to your campaigns. Having an email with the subject line personalized with my name will prompt me to open it faster than one that is not.

3. Organize -- educating your subscribers should be a big part of your email marketing campaigns. It’s the reason many will sign up to your offers because you are promising to deliver quality content or I hope you are doing that! e-courses or tutorials are very productive but you should break them out into a handful of messages.

Side Note: to avoid any confusion and to ensure open rates distinguish each email by using Day 1, Day 2 or Part 1, Part 2, etc. If you don’t do that people will assume they read the email if the subject line is the same for all corresponding e-courses or tutorials.

4. Subject Line -- although it’s not easy but it is essential to minimize your subject line. Luckily you are not given as much room to write a long subject line but it should be a great motivator for you to keep it short and to the point. Grabbing the reader’s attention is key for them to open up your emails.

Side Note: writing short and powerful subject lines is an awesome way to practice writing for other marketing platforms. They could come in handy if you ever decide to branch out and advertise using Craigslist, Google AdWords, etc.

5. They Just Have To! -- here is a huge part of getting people to open up your emails. Why should they? You have to entice them by creating a sense of urgency. Give them irresistible reasons for opening messages that will be hard to refuse.

Side Note: giving away free stuff is always a great motivator but try not using the word free too much if ever because SPAM filters will block a lot of those emails. Sometimes you have to add extra characters if you really need to use the word, such as f.r.e.e or f/ree.

If you are serious about building a long-term successful Internet business the way to ensure success is by creating a responsive targeted list of subscribers. Investing in a quality autoresponder and preparing educational and informative email marketing campaigns to help your subscribers is essential.

With that in mind I want to provide you with these email marketing tips, here are 7 Quality Tips For A Successful Email Marketing Campaign.

1. Personalization -- sending emails where the “from” line shows admin, no-reply, support, etc. is a quick way for me to easily neglect that email, because how can I take it seriously if the person sending it didn’t care enough to let me know where and/or who it is coming from? Why would anyone?

2. Subject Lines -- writing a productive subject line takes practice and skill but it is critical to your campaigns because it could make the different between someone opening your email or not, regardless whether they know who it’s coming from.

3. Formatting -- getting emails through is already a challenge because of spam filters and the multitude of email clients you have to contend with. You must format emails accordingly by keeping in mind that simple is better. If you try to get too fancy by using wacky characters and not maintaining character lengths at about 60 characters per line it could hurt your response rate.

4. Relationships -- building a relationship with your subscribers could go a long way. Try adding a touch of your personality in your emails and also make sure to ask questions. Find out what they need and what can you do to help them.

5. Test Run -- you should test every aspect of your emails. All quality autoresponders will give you the opportunity to send a test email. Also, if you are adding links make sure you test those links before sending anything out.

6. Testing and Tracking -- taking the testing a step further make use of the testing and tracking tools the autoresponder service provides to analyze your bounce, call to action, open rates and results. This can help you improve on what is not working and rely on what is to maintain the growth of your list and lessen drop offs.

7. Law Abiding -- make sure to ALWAYS remain CAN-SPAM compliant. If you don’t know what that entails I highly urge you to read the following by the Federal Trade Commission:

The CAN-SPAM Act: Requirements for Commercial Emailers

Successful email marketing campaigns can take your business from non-existent to full-fledged if you use it right and follow the rules.

Writing content can be a pain in the ass especially when you already have a full plate and I try to write a daily post as often as possible but there will be times I will simply post something about a membership site, product or service I believe in, a member of and/or use.

So yes, I won’t hide the fact it’s a referral link but it’s usually FREE and you are not ever obligated to purchase the OTO’s -- that is entirely up to you but these things could be very beneficial to your income earning and Internet business.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to write a monthly article for a new e-zine and it’s a great opportunity to drive some traffic to my website so I am going to focus on that this morning. So today’s post will focus on Email Promos Exposed.

Here is a copy of a blog review recommending EPE:

Have you ever been faced with the task of having to write an email promotion to your list, and then realized that you didn’t know what to say or how to say it?

Michael Rasmussen’s new video course “Email Promos Exposed” promises to solve that problem for you by walking you through the actual process of creating killer email promos step-by-step.

I decided to see if Michael’s videos live up to their promise by trying them out myself.

Here’s what I found:

*************************************************
Overall Quality
*************************************************

The first thing I noticed when I opened up the first video was the stunning production quality. He used Camtasia Studio for the production, which is now the industry standard for creating high-quality screen capture video products. The audio is near studio quality, and the graphics are very professional. These videos were made by someone who KNOWS what he’s doing. Well done!

I also liked how Michael divided the videos up by section, and then again by sub-section. For example, one video is all about the subject line, and then there are different parts of that video that each cover a certain area of crafting a killer subject line.

Now let’s move onto…

*************************************************
THE ACTUAL VIDEOS
*************************************************

Here’s a brief summary of each video. Obviously it’s impossible to list every single thing here, but I want you to get a feel for what each one covered, and how well it covered it.

VIDEO 1 -- INTRODUCTION

This video served as an introduction to the whole course. You get to see a picture of Michael in his every day life, and he establishes his credibility right up front by talking about some of his massive successes online. He even provides proof of credibility by displaying two checks in the amount of $50,000 and $25,000 which prove that, when it comes to the subject of making money with email promos, he knows his stuff.

This is a good lesson for anyone to get. Whenever you’re teaching people how to do something, it’s good to establish your credibility up front, so that there’s no doubt about whether or not you’re qualified to talk about the subject. Most product developers either skip or minimize this step.

VIDEO 2 -- BEFORE YOU WRITE THE PROMO

This video talks about some things that no other marketer has bothered to mention. You’ll learn things like:

* The mindset you need in order to write a killer promo

* The different tools you need before you get started

* How to keep your emails laser-focused

* How to create an outline that practically writes the email for you.

This was a fantastic video, and did a good job of kicking things off.

VIDEO 3 -- THE SUBJECT LINE

I liked this video, because it talked about one of MY biggest weaknesses when it comes to writing email promos… the subject line. The subject line is a confusing topic, because nobody’s 100% sure what the best tactics are.

Michael breaks it down, and reveals:

* The biggest secret for writing a subject line that makes people insanely curious.

* Techniques for personalizing the subject line.

* Mistakes to avoid when using personalization.

I was surprised to find that I was making some of the mistakes that Michael mentioned in this video, but now I know better.

VIDEO 4 -- THE OPENING

This is where a lot of people slack off when writing their emails. Michael talks about how important it is to create an opening that is conversational, and then reveals techniques and examples on how to do that.

He also reveals:

* How to get people to keep reading your email once they’ve opened it.

* How to make your opening interesting.

* Mistakes to avoid when creating your first few paragraphs.

VIDEO 5 -- THE BODY COPY

This is one of the “meatiest” portions of the course, because it reveals techniques that are not widely discussed on the forums, blogs, and in most eBooks. He talks about the importance of keeping your body copy tight and relevant, and then reveals how you can do that. You’ll also learn:

* How to write powerful bullets that make people curious and want to find out more.

* Simple formatting tricks for making your body copy easy to read.

* The secret of “bucket brigade copy” and how to use it in your email promos to force people to keep reading.

VIDEO 6 -- THE CALL TO ACTION

This is where a lot of people wimp out in their email promos. They start out strong, but when it comes time to ask the reader to click the link and take action, they don’t know what to say. Michael talks about some of his favorite techniques for making that happen, and also reveals:

* The “magic question” to ask yourself that will make your close much more powerful.

* The secret of the “unanswered question” and why handling this is a surefire way to get people to act right away.

* The structure of a powerful close.

* Mistakes people make when creating their close.

VIDEO 7 -- CREATING AN EFFECTIVE P.S.

Some people say that the P.S. is one of the most important parts of the email, because it is often the one thing that gets people to click the link at the end. In this video, Michael talks about:

* Why you should including a P.S. at the end of your email.

* The 4 different kinds of P.S.’s you can use (this section was a real eye-opener for me).

VIDEO 8 -- COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE

I loved this video, because it showed me some mistakes that I was making that I wasn’t even aware of. Unless you’re a seasoned pro, you’re probably guilty of some of the things that Michael talks about in this video as well, and that’s why it’s so valuable. I’ve shaved years off my learning curve, because now I can avoid some of the costly mistakes that I was bound to make in the learning process.

VIDEO 9 -- HOW TO CREATE FOLLOW-UP EMAIL PROMOTIONS

This video alone is going to make me a lot of money. Why? Because I used to only send out one email promo for each affiliate promotion I was doing. Michael showed me in this video how important it is to send a follow-up promotion, and he showed me exactly how to do it. He covered things like:

* The psychology of follow-up email promo’s.

* The 2 main types of follow-up promos that make the most money.

* How to overcome readers’ objections in your follow up emails.

* The 2 most common mistakes people make when writing follow-ups and how to avoid them.

VIDEO 10 -- HOW TO WRITE BACK END EMAIL PROMOTIONS

Every marketing guru out there says that the REAL money is on the back end. I’d have to agree with them, but the problem is… most people have no idea how to set up a back end system that makes money. This video will teach you how to set up an automated back end that’s loaded with killer promos that make you lots of cash on autopilot.

He reveals things like:

* The big difference between regular and back end email promos.

* How to prepare a back end promotion sequence.

* Common mistakes people make when creating back end email promos.

VIDEO 11 -- CREATING AFFILIATE EMAIL PROMOTIONS

This could be the most important video of the entire package for a lot of people, because most people email their list to promote other people’s products as an affiliate. Let’s face it, if you only have 3 products, can you really afford to only email your list 3 times a year? They’ll get bored hearing about the same old products over and over again. This video sheds some light on how to create killer affiliate promos. Michael reveals things like:

* The two main types of affiliate promos.

* What makes affiliate promos different than regular promos (and why ignoring this huge secret
could cost you big money).

* Michael’s favorite tactics for creating affiliate promos that no one else is doing.

* 3 different ways to add scarcity to your affiliate promos (this is the most important section of the video, so make sure you watch it over and over again).

*************************************************
CONCLUSION
*************************************************

As you can see, Email Promos Exposed really packs a lot of punch! Most of the courses out there offer only watered down, weak content. Not this one! These videos are going on my “A-list” for a long time.

It’s unlikely you will hear successful Internet marketers say they don’t use email marketing to help build their business online. Using an autoresponder, generating a responsive targeted list and building a strong relationship with the people on that list can make a huge difference to your bottom line.

Here Are 5 Practical Reasons Why Email Marketing Works:

1. Relationships -- you can add your personality to email messages and more importantly you can provide your targeted leads with helpful and useful information. If you stay away from the sales pitches and genuinely help them by giving them solid content this will build loyalty and trust. Yes, you can do this using emails.

2. Timing -- getting your message out when you want it to go out is a strong option to have. Using quality autoresponders will help you get those messages out by allowing you to either broadcast a message at the spur of the moment or schedule messages to go out a day from now, a week, am month, etc. That is powerful.

3. Cost -- email marketing is like having a bunch of sales people working for you at a without actually having employees. No direct mail marketing costs involved. No phone bills to run up. You also can reach people worldwide with one press of the button. You can start out spending as little under twenty bucks to get starting with a quality autoresponder.

4. Tracking Results -- another great option you will have with the right autoresponder service is the ability to track your email campaigns. I wrote a post recently titled: Email Marketing Tips -- Tracking Email Marketing Campaigns and Open Rates and the importance of knowing what is working and what is not. While you are there, please check out Brody Dorland’s comment as well.

5. Long-Term - if you are building your Internet presence for the long haul having a list of people you can consistently market to the right way it is more than likely you will convert a good percentage of these people into long-term customers. Again, as long as you treat them well it is hard not to.

What do I use to amp up my email marketing?

I use TrafficWave for my email marketing needs. They have a 30 day FREE Trial and also offer more than just unlimited autoresponders, but other important marketing tools including an awesome income opportunity.

I’ve mentioned in previous posts how important it is to test and track your advertising and marketing. If you don’t it’s basically blind attempts at success. For a long time I neglected this part of my business and without a doubt it contributed to a lot of my early failures and I’m still catching up a bit because of it.

The last 2 days I’ve written the following:

Email Marketing Tips -- Starting From Scratch

Email Marketing Tips -- How To Build A Responsive List Using Autoresponders

Today, I want to encourage you to fortify your email marketing by making sure you are tracking your campaigns including your open rates.

Let’s make one thing clear, I am not an Analytics Guru or anything close to it but there are simple tools available to help anyone test and track their advertising. Also, it only becomes complex based on the amount of data you are testing. I say keep it simple and you’ll be fine.

When it comes to email marketing, open rates could be tricky if certain parameters are not in place that would hinder certain counts and results. It’s usually on the receiver’s end based on the email provider they use and other obstacles that could prevent certain data from showing up.

BUT, you will still get a good enough scope of how many people are reading your messages or not. This will allow you to tweak certain aspects of your email marketing campaigns.

Here are 3 things you can do to improve an email campaign if needed:

1. Better Content -- are your messages educational and informative or are they constant sales pitches? If your email messages is a constant barrage of buy this and buy that your open rate will hit rock bottom.

2. Improve Subject Lines -- you want to make sure the person on the other end opens up your messages, so you need to have enticing subject lines to ensure they do.

3. Personalize -- a quality autoresponder will include the ability to personalize your emails and subject areas, so if the name of the person is included on both there is a greater chance they will open up the email

What do I use to track my email marketing campaigns?

Outside of traffic exchanges, I use TrafficWave. They have a 30 day FREE Trial and also offer more than just unlimited autoresponders, but other important marketing tools such as ad trackers including an awesome income opportunity.
