About a year ago, Jon Olson traffic exchange owner extraordinaire integrated a great social tool at I Love Hits and I want to shed light on it because many members are NOT taking full advantage of it. I could be wrong so if I am please send me the link to your ILH Profile Page so I can Tweet it and give you some extra exposure.

PLEASE NOTE: I won’t tweet a half-ass page so make sure you read the following carefully before you send me your link.

Here are 9 powerful components the page offers:

1. Your photo -- to succeed at using traffic exchanges people will tell you over and over again how important it is to brand yourself so having your photo on the page is a no-brainer.

2. Your bio -- a great opportunity to let people know a little about you which adds to your brand awareness.

3. Your ILH down-line -- another way to build your down-line at I Love Hits.

4. Your links -- you are given the opportunity to add a link to your blog and a link to your website.

5. Your RSS Feed -- you can add your blog or site’s RSS feed giving your ILH page search engine juice.

6. Your networks -- you are also given the option to add your URL’s for the following:

Affiliate Funnel

Facebook

Squidoo

Twitter

7. A blog -- Jon gives you up to 20 posts to add to the profile page. Here is an opportunity to give some quality content to your readers and lead them to your lead capture pages or a sales page that offers the option for something free to capture name and email addresses. I have one, but I’m considering using up all 20.

8. A button -- you can add the I Love Hits -- Get To Know Me button to your blog, social network page, and/or site:

9. A members directory -- Jon added a link at the bottom of the ILH Profile Page leading to other people’s profiles giving you another avenue for exposure.

I’m serious about tweeting your ILH Profile Page. I’ll also do it on other platforms if you are serious about setting up your ILH Profile Page as professionally as possible. Jon has given you the platform so you really have no excuse. Perhaps, we can all help forward each other’s profile page? Who would say no to some FREE extra traffic? Hell, not me!

If you are a member of ILH then go and get your page up and running and if you are not an ILH member then sign-up because the I Love Hits membership is free to join and the ILH Profile Page is free to use.

I jumped on the Twitter bandwagon when things were heating up there and before tons of experts created the How To’s and What Not’s , so although most of what I do online is with an Internet marketer’s mentality I also look at the power of relationships with social platforms like Twitter.

Twitter is great for someone like me because during my lifetime I have been what most consider a “people person” and admittedly I’m not a guru in any sense of the word but I stand behind what I know and what I promote so once a person gets to meet the real me they will know where I’m coming from -- all bullshit aside.

On the other hand, the reasons I would follow someone on Twitter vary and perhaps may not make sense to some people. Everyone has their own reasons which I would like to know, so please leave your comments.

Now, that I have gotten that out the way, here are the Top 7 Reasons Why I Chose to Follow You On Twitter:

1. Business -- this is a no-brainer, because let’s face it if you are doing any kind of business and using the Internet to maximize your reach using this platform is amazing. I’ve met people I probably would have never met if not for Twitter.

2. Connections -- one of the things I do is check out who people are following. I have found some great people to follow doing this, such as @ChrisBrogan, @MariSmith, @shoestringer, and @MaryWilhite. The diversity is amazing.

3. Follow -- I heard Perry Belcher (@perrybelcher) say on a teleseminar “don’t be a Twitter snob” and follow those who follow you. Before I heard that, I was already doing that because when I follow someone it would be nice to know they are returning the follow. By the way click here to follow me;-)

4. Interests -- working from home is one of the pleasures in my life but it can easily get a little confining so you have to find ways to continue your productivity but also to have a great diversion. Connecting with people that enjoy the same things you do outside of business is always a pleasant exchange -- especially during a tough day.

5. Mentors -- there are a select few I will choose to follow because I have learned something from them that has carried over into what I do on my business or someone who I hope to learn for many years to come, such as @jeffherring, @marlonsanders, @theTEGuy, @BrianRooney. Great people to learn from.

6. Peers -- here is a huge reason I follow people on Twitter, I’m just a regular guy building an Internet business who wants to help others succeed while continuing to improve myself based on the ongoing education I receive in this crazy business. There are many like me and I love that I can connect with them on Twitter.

7. Relationships -- the new age of marketing revolves around relationships first, although providing email marketing solutions I already drive that point home daily. Also, many successful people have built their businesses based on that premise way before the Facebooks, LinkedIns and MySpaces came along. It’s just more evident than ever these days because of the Internet and all the social platforms available to us.

What are the Top 7 reasons you follow people on Twitter?

In yesterday’s post -- Email Marketing Tips -- Starting From Scratch I gave you some brief info on why it is important to use email marketing for a long lasting Internet business and how crucial it is to invest in a quality autoresponder service to help you manage that list.

Today, I want to go over some ways to help you build a responsive list of subscribers to ensure you keep growing that list and minimize people from unsubscribing.

It’s actually getting a bit tougher to compete because many Internet marketers know the importance of list building and they know how email marketing helps them earn a strong income. Having a list of subscribers gives you multiple opportunities to communicate your message.

The attention span of most people using the Internet is very short because of the many options they are bombarded with. Your goal is to set yourself apart from the competition but again your competitors are always coming up with something exciting, free and new to offer people so you will have to do the same.

OR

You can strike up relationships with potential subscribers through social marketing, which is probably the way a lot of Internet marketers are leaning towards anyway because this gives people a chance to get to know you and what you can offer without having to bribe them entirely to sign up to any of your lists;-)

The best way to build a responsive list is to brand yourself by getting your experience, name and photo out to the masses (I’ll cover this in length on future posts), offer people something free (the first 1 or 2 chapters of your e-book, a hard hitting report, an e-course, helpful software), and finally educational and helpful information.

If you can sincerely help people you will notice your list grow and maintain it’s growth. Since it is impossible to personally help every single subscriber your email marketing system must be a well-oiled machine.

What do I use for my email marketing needs?

I use TrafficWave for my email marketing needs. They have a 30 day FREE Trial and also offer more than just unlimited autoresponders, but other important marketing tools including an awesome income opportunity.

As an Internet & Network marketer Twitter and other social marketing platforms have been a blessing because it gives us a huge stage to not only grow our businesses but to show people who we really are. Competition is fierce so you have to set yourself apart and if you are a people person you can really do well.

Twitter is a phenomenon all by itself and just like any platform where people have the opportunity to showcase their product and services there will be very smart individuals who will come up with applications to broaden our reach.

I’m torn between growing my Twitter following organically, using generators, or both.

Why do I bring this up?

Well, Gary McCaffrey has created a viral marketing tool called TweeterGetter but I have NOT used it. There are valid arguments on both sides why you should use it and why you shouldn’t. The whys and why nots are the obvious arguments.

I’ve used only one Twitter follow generator and that is Tim Linden’s Twitter Me Fun because I didn’t see the harm of using a tool to help me get followers I can relate to. A lot of people on the list either surf traffic exchanges, own TE’s or buy advertising from them. Probably about 100 or so of my current 1,566 followers are from TMF. More importantly, I didn’t have to give up my Twitter password which was great.

I’m probably going to stick to what I’ve been doing to this point. I follow people who interest me and not only because of monetarily value. I’m a people person so I’ve always found people to be fascinating and using a social platform like Twitter gets me in the know with unique individuals.

If you would like to follow me CLICK HERE.

Also, where else can you connect with some of the biggest names in Internet & Network Marketing, Journalism, Politics, Social Media, etc.?

Visit TweeterGetter and give me your thoughts. How do you want your followers?

Leave comments and tell me why or why not use TweeterGetter.

Since Monday, I’ve been giving props to traffic exchanges because I truly believe they can be a great addition to people’s marketing arsenal in the Internet & Network Marketing niche. It’s also a place where no one is bullshitting you. There is no secret. You are there to promote and everyone knows that or at least you should.

TE’s are simple to use, they are free and/or very inexpensive to financially promote your product or service, a wonderful place to get ideas for your own marketing, you can start building a list quickly, and more importantly a productive place to brand yourself.

Here is a list of blogs I’ve posted since Monday if you haven’t had a chance to read them:

Tracking Your Ads -- Don’t Discriminate Test & Track

Traffic Exchange Marketing -- Tracking Your Way To Profits

Traffic Exchange Marketing -- Get Social By Meeting The Owners

You would probably think I’m a traffic exchange owner at this point, but I’m not, Would I consider owning a TE? Perhaps, but it’s not part of my long-term goal. I will tell you this, I will in some way, shape or form be part of traffic exchanges for a long time to come.

In today’s post I want to come full circle with all of this. I have given you my reasons why I use traffic exchanges, I’ve gone over my current testing and tracking campaign including the components I’m using, I’ve also pointed out how the social marketing platform is also a big part of TE’s.

Not too long ago before Twitter and all the other awesome social media stuff consumed so many of us, blogging was and still is an automatic weapon in most serious Internet marketer’s arsenal. None takes it more seriously than Tim Linden and yes he is a traffic exchange owner -- StartXchange.

Why is this important?

Because this gives you another platform to learn more about the owners and another place to leave comments and ask questions.

Tim’s blog is one of my favorite blogs inside and outside of traffic exchanges because he goes into testing in great detail, he also uses video and is very into the Web 2.0 stuff -- Tim actually set up the Facebook Traffic Exchange Group and he also created Twitter Me Fun to help people grow their list of Twitter followers.

One of my other favorite blogs is actually a weekly newsletter written by Jon Olson. He uses a blogging platform for his newsletter and I still look forward to his Hit Exchange News post every Thursday. By the way, Jon is one of the most recognized owners in the TE industry and he owns and co-owns a few of the hottest traffic exchanges like ILoveHits & Sweeva.

Here are 5 other blogs by traffic exchange owners you may find interesting:

TRAFFIC WITCH -- Blog Link

Owner -- Guido Nussbaum -- this guy gets it. Guido already made his mark in the Internet Marketing industry but knew well enough to give us a great new traffic exchange with endless possibilities.

HIT SAFARI - Blog Link

Owner -- Paula Brown Zuehlke -- Paula is not only a very successful traffic exchange owner, but she is genuinely one of the nicest people I’ve come across in this business. Check out her blog and you will see what I mean. She cares.

DRAGON SURF -- Blog Link

Owner -- Sored Jordansen -- here is another guy who really gets it, but what I like about reading Soren’s stuff is the ease it is presented. His IM Success Formula report is a great example of that. If you want to get an Internet business up and running quickly check that report out.

BOOT SCOOTIN TRAFFIC -- Blog Link

Owner -- Sunny Suggs -- never mind that I love her name, the name of her traffic exchange and the results I’ve gotten using BST but Sunny has also given us AllAboutAdd-ons.com. She has made it possible for people to understand how to work with add-ons and not be afraid of using them because she makes it easy to learn.

TONY TEZAK -- Blog Link

Guess what?

Tony doesn’t own a traffic exchange [HE DOES NOW], but he has a big voice in the industry. He’s been using them for years and is someone you can get some great tidbits from especially if you are undecided about using TE’s. This gives you a great perspective from an actual and successful user.

Add the blogs I’ve mentioned above to your RSS Feeds and get to know the traffic exchange owners because they are blogging too.

In yesterday’s post “Traffic Exchange Marketing -- Tracking Your Way To Profits” I gave you a breakdown on how and what I’m tracking in my current campaign using traffic exchanges. I also mentioned how the current 50 traffic exchanges I’m analyzing and testing were chosen with no true scientific reasons for now.

I want to go over the reasons I did choose the 50 TE’s to help you with your choices when you are ready to start tracking your efforts, but more importantly I want you to pay close attention to the social marketing aspect which I leave for last (#5).

The 5 reasons I chose the 50 traffic exchanges I’m testing and tracking are as follows:

1. Past results -- a handful of these TE’s have given me results in the past. It’s that simple. Although, I didn’t take ad tracking as serious as I do now there was always an instinct for me to know what was working for a certain campaign or not. Some of these traffic exchanges gave me the results I was looking for at the time.

2. Rankings -- getting feedback from people who have been using traffic exchanges for a lot longer than me or that specialize in testing and tracking TE’s is an obvious source to refer to. Affiliate Funnel and TrafficHoopla are 2 sites I am a member of and getting the rankings of the top ranking exchanges from these guys are more than reliable.

3. Design -- I am a sucker for a well designed website. It’s not a huge deciding factor for me but admittedly I tend to gravitate to these sites and go in hoping they give me great results so I can continue using them.

4. Script -- this is huge for me. I love easy flowing surf bars, large icons to click on, generous surfing bonuses, etc. In the end, the results is what counts but I will work harder on my campaigns and splashes to give these type of traffic exchanges a chance to work for me.

5. Networking - there is no secret how critical social marketing is to your business. The interaction with business owners, clients, customers and prospects is so important to your success it’s easy to understand why the social marketing landscape has exploded for Internet and Network marketers.

I can honestly say that traffic exchange owners are the most accessible business owners I’ve ever come across. I may not agree with them on everything but there is no doubt in my mind I have many platforms to interact with at least one of them virtually at any time of the day, such as Facebook and Twitter.

There are also forums such as TheMembersForum & NetMarketingForum where you can find the latest and greatest information regarding traffic exchanges and ask all the questions you ever wanted to ask or provide constructive criticisms, etc.

Jon Guanzon and Jon Olson have a very nifty free report called Social Surfing Secrets where they cover social networking and the impact it had on their own success and others relating to their interactions with other traffic exchange owners.

Travis Millward also has an excellent report that first introduced us to the power of networking in this business before all that social networking madness hit the traffic exchange landscape. Networking -- The Evolution.

If you have any doubts about traffic exchanges why not get to know some of the business owners and voice your concerns. Ask them questions or tell them what is it you don’t like and perhaps they can take some of your criticisms and turn them into something positive to continue improving traffic exchanges.

I’m doing my part by keeping them honest through my consistency, focus, networking, testing and tracking, so don’t be like those naysayers without putting it to the test yourself.
