Are you tracking your ads? If you are not, why is that? Do you believe it would cost you an arm and a leg to invest in an ad tracking system or are you intimidated by thought of dealing with numbers and stats? These days tracking your ads couldn’t be easier and inexpensive as long as you stick to the basics there is no reason you shouldn’t start knowing what advertising is working for you and what is not.

Below are 3 tracking systems you can join today at no cost and get started tracking your ads today:

1. HitsConnect – with your free account you receive 10 tracker accounts, 1 rotator account, and 10 banner trackers. This is more than enough to get your started. This membership level is always FREE. Using paramaters as they teach will allow you to do some extensive testing and tracking so it’s foolish not to sign-up for a free account..

2. HyperTracker – you get a full 14 day trial period to test their whole PRO system without paying up front, so if you do decide to stay on then you pay if not then you just move on. For 2 weeks you get to try out the whole system inside out and that matters because you will immediately realize the advantage it can have on your Internet business when you track your ads.

3. ProTrackerPlus – with your free account you are able to track 5 websites, test for click, sales and action, split test rotator, track keywords and whole bunch of other stuff. I also like that they have a video tutorial for each section. This membership level is also always free but you have less flexibility if you are looking to track a lot of sites.

Personally, I mix and match my ad tracking systems because I like testing them too. I also mix in some of the Web 2.0 trackers like BudURL and Cligs. Let’s not forget the powerful Analytics program Google offers for Free and of course I use the ad tracking system TrafficWave offers which you can also test out during it’s Free 30 day trial.

It’s obvious you have very little excuse not to be tracking your ads, because I just gave you a handful of systems that are either free, you can test for free, or very low cost and they are all easy to work with.

If you been following my blog and most specifically the entries regarding traffic exchanges you know I am currently testing and tracking 50 traffic exchanges but very early on there have been a core of exchanges that have yielded results and continue to perform strong for me, although I will be revising my testing to better provide concrete numbers to my readers I want to spotlight the 16 TE’s kicking butt for me right now.

If you haven’t been following these entries or want a refresher here is the link to the blog post that will get you up to speed:

Traffic Exchange Marketing – Tracking Your Way To Profits

I am judging these traffic exchanges based on either views, action clicks, or both

Here Are My Current Sweet 16 Traffic Exchanges:

When I say exposure that means the TE is NOT sitting on my credits and action clicks are people clicking on the link on my splash page that leads to my squeeze page.

1. TrafficWitch – I’m getting the exposure and the action clicks. This is without out a doubt the most productive TE for me at the moment.

2. DeepSeaHits – yet another TE I’m getting both exposure and action clicks with.

3. HitsBoosterPro – this was one of those surprise TE’s that continues to impress me day in and day out.

4. BootScootinTraffic – in this round of testing BootScootin started off slow for me and I was very disappointed since it was one of my favorite TE’s and I was glad to see it not only make a comeback for me but it is one of my best producing TE’s.

5. VisitManiac – one of my favorite TE’s that continue to give me both the exposure I need and I’m also getting the action clicks, so as you would expect I’m sticking to this TE!

6. Hit2Hit – what can I say about this TE only that it is consistently one of the top ranked if not number one every week at AffiliateFunnel & TrafficHoopla and it’s no different on my end. I get plenty of exposure and the action clicks so it also on my top ten list.

7. TrafficDynamite – this one is a tricky one. I have to admit I dropped the ball on this one. I was getting the action clicks and my splash page views was close to 1000 but I haven’t been surfing this TE as much as I should because I was focusing on some of the other well-known TE’s. I have to start surfing these guys again and see if it was just a fluke, but the numbers don’t lie so I better stay with them.

8. TrafficPunk – this TE rocks! I love the whole site design upgrade it recently had and the surfing experience is great. It also has given me a lot of exposure lately and a few action clicks.

9. TrafficTaxis – this is another TE that started off slow for me and it has been one of my favorites since day one and I’m happy to see my action clicks and exposure increase at this exchange.

10. Blue-Surf – again one of my favorites and it has been doing great me for me this whole round of testing so I am happy it still continues to do so.

The remainder of the list are no surprises. It would be hard to find any list that doesn’t have these 5 TE’s as top producers in action clicks and exposure:

11. Traffic-Splash

12. DragonSurf

13. ILoveHits

14. EasyHits4U

15. HitSafari

16. Soaring4Traffic

17 through 25 also matter to me but I wanted to focus on just the 16 doing the very best for me at the moment.

26 through 50 are just not doing it for me and there are a bunch more I want to test, so I am going to eventually set up another test and tracking campaign with the current 50 while throwing in another bunch of TE’s and have running statistics at this blog. I’ll also throw in stats for text ad exchanges, safelists, etc. I’m just looking for a way to do this where it will take me the least amount of time so stay tuned.

It’s been over 2 weeks now and I’ve been checking out the numbers and there has been some surprises and not so surprising results. I’ve voiced my opinion on how traffic exchanges absolutely work and I confirm that by tracking using the criteria that serves my purposes as should you.

For those of you who have not been following my traffic exchange testing and tracking posts here are the links to each of them so far:

Traffic Exchange Marketing – Tracking Your Way To Profits

Traffic Exchange Marketing – Preliminary Tracking Results

I must say it again, I’m keeping the testing criteria simple because it doesn’t make any sense trying to get all scientific at this stage. My main goal is to find the best producing traffic exchanges that work for me and the current campaign I’m promoting.

I’ve simply created a few splash pages (I’m trying to stand out and brand myself so I’m not using the MIB splashes as much) and I’m also using brief lead capture pages using TrafficWave LCP templates. So in a nutshell, I’m looking to make sure my splash pages are being rotated consistently, the link to my lead capture pages are being clicked on (call to action) and where my sign-ups are coming from.

Another note, the traffic exchange could be the very best TE but may not be working for the components I’m using so if I want to ensure a TE works for me especially if I love it then I have to tweak certain things until I find a formula that works, but with that said you will realize which traffic exchanges are a waste of your time and which ones are productive if you test and track your work.

I’m actually going to get more in depth with the testing by converting everything over to HitsConnect which I upgraded to recently. I’ve used the free membership and it impressed me enough to start using it immediately. I’m also going to start testing the 6 MIB banners as well.

Using Cli.gs has been awesome but HC is perfectly set up to track traffic exchanges and they have a banner rotator with tracking features so it’s very much a no-brainer not to use them for my testing. It’s also simple to use.

Here are the latest tracking results using the Cli.gs system. Below are my Top 5 best producing traffic exchanges since February 10, 2009 using my components and criteria:

1. DeepSeaHits – this is an oldie but goodie. When I started testing DSH over 2 weeks ago the preliminary numbers were disappointing since I’ve always had great results from them but out of nowhere it has become my best producer and it also giving me a call to action click after every 183 views of my splash page which has been circulating consistently and plentiful.

2. HitsBoosterPro – what can I say HBP is still kicking some ass for me and like I mentioned the last time I just threw these guys in at the last minute and now I can’t see them not being in my ultimate top 10 when it’s all said and done.

3. TrafficWitch – TrafficWitch has slowed up for me as far as call for action clicks but the exposure rate is phenomenal especially that the owner has major traffic coming in from his other Internet businesses. Call to action clicks is primary for me but I absolutely take seriously the amount of times my splash page is being shown at a traffic exchange that has a sizable membership count. Branding!

4. VisitManiac – here is another TE that was on my Top 5 surprises last week and it is still producing on all ends so I’m really excited about the possibility of having VM in the ultimate core of traffic exchanges once I eventually cut down the list of 50.

5. TrafficDynamite – another TE from last week’s Top 5 surprises that is still sticking around. I just can’t get rid of them. Dare I say it? It has been EXPLOSIVE for me. Ha Ha. Seriously, it has been getting me call to action clicks at a nice clip.

Again, a lot of this is early testing so things will change dramatically and I will continue to tweak my components here and there if necessary to ensure I get much more activity from the big guys and my favorites. I’m also adding the banner testing which should be interesting to watch the results on that.

Don’t buy into the naysayers that say traffic exchanges don’t work. Why don’t you put it to the test by getting a free membership at HitsConnect and find out for yourself if it does or not? If you have already used TE’s without success why don’t you try testing and tracking so you can fix that. It won’t cost you a dime so you have nothing to lose:
