Traffic Exchange Marketing – Latest Tracking Results and System Change
It’s been over 2 weeks now and I’ve been checking out the numbers and there has been some surprises and not so surprising results. I’ve voiced my opinion on how traffic exchanges absolutely work and I confirm that by tracking using the criteria that serves my purposes as should you.
For those of you who have not been following my traffic exchange testing and tracking posts here are the links to each of them so far:

I must say it again, I’m keeping the testing criteria simple because it doesn’t make any sense trying to get all scientific at this stage. My main goal is to find the best producing traffic exchanges that work for me and the current campaign I’m promoting.
I’ve simply created a few splash pages (I’m trying to stand out and brand myself so I’m not using the MIB splashes as much) and I’m also using brief lead capture pages using TrafficWave LCP templates. So in a nutshell, I’m looking to make sure my splash pages are being rotated consistently, the link to my lead capture pages are being clicked on (call to action) and where my sign-ups are coming from.
Another note, the traffic exchange could be the very best TE but may not be working for the components I’m using so if I want to ensure a TE works for me especially if I love it then I have to tweak certain things until I find a formula that works, but with that said you will realize which traffic exchanges are a waste of your time and which ones are productive if you test and track your work.
I’m actually going to get more in depth with the testing by converting everything over to HitsConnect which I upgraded to recently. I’ve used the free membership and it impressed me enough to start using it immediately. I’m also going to start testing the 6 MIB banners as well.
Using Cli.gs has been awesome but HC is perfectly set up to track traffic exchanges and they have a banner rotator with tracking features so it’s very much a no-brainer not to use them for my testing. It’s also simple to use.
Here are the latest tracking results using the Cli.gs system. Below are my Top 5 best producing traffic exchanges since February 10, 2009 using my components and criteria:
1. DeepSeaHits -- this is an oldie but goodie. When I started testing DSH over 2 weeks ago the preliminary numbers were disappointing since I’ve always had great results from them but out of nowhere it has become my best producer and it also giving me a call to action click after every 183 views of my splash page which has been circulating consistently and plentiful.
2. HitsBoosterPro -- what can I say HBP is still kicking some ass for me and like I mentioned the last time I just threw these guys in at the last minute and now I can’t see them not being in my ultimate top 10 when it’s all said and done.
3. TrafficWitch -- TrafficWitch has slowed up for me as far as call for action clicks but the exposure rate is phenomenal especially that the owner has major traffic coming in from his other Internet businesses. Call to action clicks is primary for me but I absolutely take seriously the amount of times my splash page is being shown at a traffic exchange that has a sizable membership count. Branding!
4. VisitManiac -- here is another TE that was on my Top 5 surprises last week and it is still producing on all ends so I’m really excited about the possibility of having VM in the ultimate core of traffic exchanges once I eventually cut down the list of 50.
5. TrafficDynamite -- another TE from last week’s Top 5 surprises that is still sticking around. I just can’t get rid of them. Dare I say it? It has been EXPLOSIVE for me. Ha Ha. Seriously, it has been getting me call to action clicks at a nice clip.
Again, a lot of this is early testing so things will change dramatically and I will continue to tweak my components here and there if necessary to ensure I get much more activity from the big guys and my favorites. I’m also adding the banner testing which should be interesting to watch the results on that.
Don’t buy into the naysayers that say traffic exchanges don’t work. Why don’t you put it to the test by getting a free membership at HitsConnect and find out for yourself if it does or not? If you have already used TE’s without success why don’t you try testing and tracking so you can fix that. It won’t cost you a dime so you have nothing to lose:
