Traffic Exchange Marketing – Preliminary Tracking Results

Ten days ago I wrote the following post:

Traffic Exchange Marketing -- Tracking Your Way To Profits

Today, I have some preliminary tracking results from the 50 traffic exchanges mentioned there.

I want to stress a few points:

I feel strongly about traffic exchange marketing and stronger regarding testing and tracking results which allows me to refute those who think TE’s do not work.

As I mentioned previously at this stage of my testing I have been keeping it simple.

This is based on my testing and what I’m looking for.  I’m also using different components than you would so you have to test and track yourself to find out what type of results you would get.

All I’m looking for is to come up with 10 strong producing traffic exchanges for my current campaigns.

My lead capture and splash pages are more effective in some exchanges although I am a fan of several that aren’t.  For now, I have to go with results.

Keep in mind these are very early numbers and I have not decided whether to make final decisions after my splash page has rotated 1000, 2000 or 5000 times at each TE.

I have copied over the list of 50 traffic exchanges for your convenience (they are at the bottom).

It’s only been 10 days so it’s foolish to determine anything based on earning income this is just based on my splash pages being shown, call to action clicks on that page, and sign ups, but here are 5 of the traffic exchanges that have definitely surprised me thus far:

TrafficWitch -- call to action clicks are happening after every 163 views which I think is pretty good.  Half of those have gone on to join my list.  They are not sitting on my credits they are definitely rotating it consistently.

HitsBoosterPro -- this is one of the big surprises for me.  Honestly, I added HBP to the list of 50 at the last minute for testing and I’m loving the simple interface, the generous bonus credits and more importantly the call to action clicks happening after every 122 views.

VisitManiac -- here is the other surprise for me.  I added VisitManiac to the 50 because of it’s design and never expected it would produce much for me but not only has it become a favorite of mine I’m getting call to action clicks after every 155 views.

TrafficDynamite -- dude, I would have never expected it. There are at least 5 traffic exchanges I would have expected to give me call to action clicks after every 228 before these guys, but it’s happening.

Blue-Surf -- no big surprise here, but the results on both call to action clicks and those same people going on to sign up to my list have exceeded my expectations.  Call to action clicks are happening after every 129 views.

The usual strong traffic exchanges that have produced in the past for me continue to produce.

I am also disappointed that the same campaign is not producing at some of my favorites traffic exchanges thus far but that could change.

    Very nice. :)

Keep up the great testing work. People (including me) always love to see the results of testing and proof that TE’s do work.

    *thumbs up*

    Thanks Scott.

Once I transfer my test and tracking campaigns over to HitsConnect (signed up for the Partner membership today) I should be able to get more in depth including banners, text ads, etc.

I’m just waiting for at least 1000 views per TE in my current tracking campaign using Cligs before I cut it from 50 to 25 so that I can eventually work my way to 10 or maybe push 15.

Blue-Surf has always been a winner for me and based on my latest campaign it hasn’t disappointed;-)

    Thanks for swinging by.

    Hi Jimmy

    hello to a fellow MIB’er

is there someway or something that can be used to track the results of surfing on numerous traffic exchanges?

for example, lets say you surf 2 groups of 10 te’s and you want to determine which 10 give the best results, in terms of traffic and credits.

    can this be done? how?

    thank you

    Hi Mickey:

You can try using HitsConnect or ProTrackerPlus and use the grouping feature. Name the group and track the 10 traffic exchanges in that group. Then set up a second group to do the same.

    1) you want to ensure your pages are being shown so that is one criteria to track. If the TE is sitting on your credits then add the same url more than once if allowed to see if that will move them, if not then you know it’s a waste of your valuable time.

    2) you should also track the call to action clicks (the actual clicking to get to your lead capture page, etc). If people are not clicking to get to your LCP it’s not the TE’s fault so you could change the splash. If you are getting clicks at certain TE’s then you should be focusing on those exchanges.

    3) I doubt that a specific to group of 10 is going to give you the results you are looking for. Although you want to test them by groups you have to look at them individually and then pull the ones that are not working well for you until you can find 10 TE’s that work well together for you.

    3) in terms of credits you have to know what the ratios are for each exchange you are surfing. Is it 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, etc.

I’m currently working on grouping them by ratio myself, so if the traffic exchange is showing my splash 1 time for every 3 times I view a site then I know I have to surf 300 pages to accumulate a minimum of 100 credits not including bonuses, etc.

Of course, the ultimate goal should be to find a few very productive TE’s and upgrade so you will be working with 1:1 ratios:-)

To work faster, you can find ratios on Tim Linden’s traffic exchange list at http://trafficexchangelist.com

Both HitsConnect and ProTrackerPlus have free memberships and training (including video tutorials) so check those out.

If you need my help let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

    Thanks for coming by.

    Jimmy
